Why does a song give you chills? Do you feel lighter after a dance, or carry a story with you for years? Heartbeat, Lincoln Center’s annual arts and wellbeing summit, brings together acclaimed artists, healthcare professionals, and scientists at the top of their field to explore what art does to our bodies, brains and hearts. Long after the concert ends or you’ve turned off the music, the emotions stay with us in our memories, in our bodies and in the way we connect with others. We grow because of art. This year’s summit explores how our body’s response to art can support our health, and why we keep making art throughout our lives. How can art help us live healthier, fuller lives? The festivities are hosted by Renée Fleming, internationally celebrated for her vocal and dramatic artistry and her dedicated advocacy for the creative arts in health. The day will kick off with "The Songs that Made Me," featuring Hrishikesh Hirway, host and creator of the hit podcast Song Exploder, followed by sessions with The Moth, Juilliard Extension, New York City Ballet, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, Dr. Charles Limb, Dr. Amy Belfi and Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell.

Let your curiosity lead you from the main stage through a day of participatory and revelatory sessions in music, dance, science, storytelling, and more.
